                     The 2010 Bladensburg High School Reunion Weekend

Hello Former 1965, 1964, 1963, and 1966 Bladensburg High School Classmates:

This is the "Big One", the one all the other classes talk about. - The next Bladensburg Reunion Weekend is scheduled for July 22-25, 2010. This is planned to be the “largest” Reunion ever held for any Bladensburg High School group with the expectation of having 500 participants at the Dinner/Dance which is our maximum. We need your prompt response so we can include everyone. This is the very first contact with you to advise you of arrangements already in place for the "2010 Bladensburg Reunion Weekend".

Please go to www.bladensburgalumni.com and register or if there already, update your information, so we can keep you in the loop about Reunion and class information more easily. Please help us help you make this a wonderful event and tell/email any other classmates you are in contact with to go to this Internet site and register there too (no charge and it is not a commercial site), so we can contact them immediately. This can save us a lot of time and hundreds of dollars in mailing expenses (cheaper tickets right). If they don`t have email, then email us at jakesnakemd@verizon.net (note this is a new email) and give us their current mailing address, telephone numbers, etc, or just call Jake Masters, BHS ’65 at 1-800-642-9549 with the info. We only intend to make one mailing to those without email at a later date. We are posting all the Reunion Weekend info on this site, including a list of all attendees (Who's Coming list). Also, listings of classmates who are no longer with us are posted here (In Memoriam list).  Please add your name to the Who`s Coming list as to whether or not you plan to attend.  The list is at over 250 (guests included) currently which is only 3/4 of those attending.

A brief outline of the weekend and events is as follows:

Thursday, July 22, 2010 – Evening - Early Bird get together for those in town at Willy K’s restaurant located in the Holiday Inn, Greenbelt, Maryland. Drew several hundred in 2005 with plenty of room for all.

Friday, July 23, 2010 - 8:00-3:00 PM - Golf Outing @ Bowie Golf Course, Bowie, Maryland - Cost is to be announced but will be reasonable and includes greens fees, carts, and lots more. Contact is Bob Broderick (BHS ’65).  We are negotiating to have our '65 Alum PGA Professional (over $2.3 million in winnings) play with us and give everyone a shot at beating a Pro.

Friday, July 23, 2010 - 7:00 PM- Until - Casual Night Out at the Italian Inn (Peter Connell`s) in Bladensburg Maryland - no charge other than what you purchase at the restaurant - always draws an overflow crowd - still good pizza and cold beer! Don’t forget the parking lot overflow in 2005!!

Saturday, July 24, 2010 - 6:00-8:00 PM - Registration and Cocktail Hour at the Holiday Inn Greenbelt - distribution of Reunion Books and souvenirs - for paid Dinner/Dance participants.

Saturday, July 24, 2010 - 8:00-12:00 Midnight - for paid Dinner/Dance participants - Buffet Dinner, DJ, Dancing, Awards Ceremony, Cash Bar - Martin`s Crosswinds, Greenbelt, MD which is immediately adjacent to the Holiday Inn Greenbelt. Maximum capacity is over 500 people and we expect to sell out!!!

Saturday, July 24, 2010 – 12:00 Midnight – 3:00 AM – dancing to oldies with all your classmates at Willy K’s restaurant in the Holiday Inn Greenbelt with our DJ, Tom “The Bomb” Griffin (BHS grad).

Sunday, July 25, 2010 - 12:00 Noon-5:00 PM – Patio/Pool get together adjacent to Willy K’s restaurant, Holiday Inn Greenbelt. Food and beverages available. Pool available for those that want to swim. Time to say goodbye and just relax and visit.

Note that we are no longer planning a “High School Open House” an event for 30 years since our P.G. County contact, Judy Edwards Garber, BHS ’65, has retired and the old high school no longer exists. If you have suggestions for early on Saturday, please send them to us. This will, at a minimum, leave more time to visit friends, family and sightsee the area. One suggestion is a class specific luncheon on site or nearby.

For out-of-town participants we arranged an initial block of 80 rooms (first come, first served) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at the Holiday Inn Greenbelt for $94.00 per night (single or double)—only $5.00 more than in 2005! Their normal rates run from $109.00 to $163.00 per night! If you need extra nights or they run out of reserved rooms, contact us. We advise you to reserve early, since many were disappointed in 2000 when the hotel was totally booked and in 2005 when our classmates booked well over 70 rooms out of 203 total. The hotel has a very nice restaurant/bar with out door "Tiki Bar" overlooking the pool and stays open until 3:00 AM. As mentioned above, for those still standing, we will return here after Martin`s to finish off the evening.  As of 12/18/2009, our group had booked 68 of our total rooms.  Only 10 rooms remain in our block.  They do not charge your credit/debit card until you check out next year.
 
Contact the Hotel at 301-982-7000 for the reservations desk and tell them you are with the Bladensburg Reunion in July 2010.  If you encounter any problems, ask for Joellyn Furmage, Sales Manager, so she can assist in getting the accommodations you need.  Remember that rates are at $94.00/night, single or double occupancy.
 
This schedule is subject to some minor changes depending on circumstances, but the Early Bird get together, golf outing, Italian Inn, hotel rooms, and Dinner/Dance are already reserved.

In 2005 the total ticket price was $70.00 per person or $140.00 per couple. Remember that this covers the Dinner/Dance, the Reunion Book, and souvenir engraved glass, DJ, and mailing expenses. We will need to up the ticket prices to $80.00 per person or $160.00 per couple for the 2010 BHS Reunion Weekend due to higher costs related to the Dinner/Dance, DJ, etc.  Make all remittances payable to "1965 BHS Reunion Fund" and mail to: 1965 BHS Reunion Fund, c/o MasterMarq Financial, 4815 Prince Georges Avenue, Suite 104, Beltsville, Maryland 20705-1968. Please respond promptly. We expect this to be a full house event and do not wish to disappoint any alumni.  Due to the number of attendees, we do not want any "show ups"--please let us know what you wish to attend.  Here`s to having a wonderful Reunion Weekend experience.

One final note, if you have never attended, haven’t attended in some time, or are just aren’t sure if this is an event for you, please be assured that virtually all past attendees have indicated they have had a great three days. Some of those will not be joining us this time (including 58 from the Class of ’65 alone—up from 41 in July 2005), so give it your serious consideration and join us for one more or one last time. This, in fact, may be the last Reunion Weekend of this type we ever hold so come be with all of us that weekend.
